Licking Lassa Fever - health education & hygiene for all

The regional project of Soroptimist International Wales South which seeks to stop so many people suffering and dying from Lassa Fever in Sierra Leone - about 3,ooo deaths per year whist 30% of survivors become deaf.

Lassa Fever is a viral disease which is carried by rats. Infected rats spread the virus by contaminating food and water supplies with their droppings and urine.

How you can help:

  • £10 buys food containers and water bottles for one family to keep basic supplies clean and uncontaminated by rats.
  • £100 buys tools and seeds for one village, for 100 families, to grow their own food.
  • £1000 buys 5 latrines and £2000 buys a well to improve sanitation and hygiene.
